This project aimed at restoring what was old - the furniture, the structure, the Iranian culture .

With a client who believed in nurturing the space which reflected the true irani flavour, this cafe became an intense process of rebuilding the form, the interior and the ambience. Enjoying two-sided road frontage and several heritage structures in the neighborhood influencing the design process greatly, there was a great scope for architectural treatment blending from the facade to the interior.

Teakwood doors and windows with ornamental grills braced the openings, while the stucco wall treatment on the facade continued to the internal walls. Structural strengthening of the building was followed by treating the beams and brackets in wood finishes and cast iron Montgomery elements.

Designer tiles inlaid in the central row of tables, with long benches leading to the dispensing bar with glass mosaic treatment and teak counters add to the character of the place.

Warm diffused lighting from large marble chandeliers was used to accentuate the height of the space as well as the treated beams.

Since restoration was a conscious aim of this project, the niches finished with a red stucco wall were intelligently used to display the wine bottles, the memorabilia and pictures collected by the owners over a long period of time.
