SUCHITRA ART GALLERY
The Challenging aspect of this project was to transform an apartment with windows abutting rooms into an art gallery - space for display and experience of skill.

As client listed its basic requirements of display areas in various scales for artwork, sculptures, installations as well as storage space for gallery consignments, we gathered that the primary need for maximum wall space was the shortcoming of the site. Efficient lighting and a powder room for high end clients, completed with a pantry, a secured storage space and an office for the gallery curator was another aspect that needed intelligent planning and organization, not to interfere with the basic functioning of the space.

Hence, a seamless blend of the windows was created, synonymous to the character of a gallery. The plan was organized in a way that one had a full view of the entire gallery display before accessing the office and other areas. Offsets were made in plan with platforms finished in wood having multiple levels of display and storage underneath.
A white shell blending together the lighting and air conditioning services provided the ideal ceiling option alone with natural light captured through slit diffused windows that allowed controlling the play of light into the gallery.
